Who is GCTYA
The mission of the Greater Central Texas Youth Association (GCTYA) is to "Enrich the minds, bodies and spirits or our participants, through academics and athletics." We strive to be an alternative to the various negative elements which compete for the attention of our youth. Our organization offers mentorship programs, tutorial assistance, opportunities to participate in community service projects, as well as an exciting basketball experience. The GCTYA is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) certified organization, registered with the Internal Revenue Service.
Who are the ATX Boys
The ATX Boys is a program of the GCTYA. The name ATX Boys is an acronym which stands for "Austin Texas Backbone of Youth Sports." It consists of a group of young men ranging from elementary to high school ages. These young men represent all areas of the city of Austin and surrounding communities with three things in common: academic excellence, social achievement and pure unadulterated basketball talent. The program was started in 1997 by a handful of committed parents who were determined to give their kids an opportunity to compete in the game of basketball at the AAU (Amateur Athletics Union) national level.
